The year is 2005, and you have three muscle cars from the big three to choose from.

DD, Track & Burn. Go!

Kinja'd!!!

From GM: The Monaro/GTO, 400BHP 6.0 V8.

Kinja'd!!!

From (Daimler) Chrysler: The Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG, 362BHP 5.4 V8.

Kinja'd!!!

From Ford (Ownership): The Jaguar XKR, 390BHP 4.2 V8.

The Holden comes with the magical LS2 motor, while the Merc is more refined and the Jag has styling on its side. Each of them are some of the most accessible V8 performance cars around, you choose.

Special thanks to AfromanGTO for giving me the idea to do a DD, Track & Burn with the GTO/Monaro.~

Track: GTO, because you can bolt on power very easily.

You should also note these are some heavy *** cars. Still cool cars, but heavier than they needed to be.

They are very heavy. I need to find a period-correct benchmark to find out if they’re heavier than they needed to be though.

Well I do know that since Gran Turismo 2 & Forza Motorsport 1, checking out the the Aston Martin and Mercedes Benz and you always see higher weight than other cars in the class. Apparently the carmakers quest to add in luxury & sound deadening overshadows the performance to a degree.

Yep. As a Gran Turismo player myself, I agree completely. I’m a sucker for luxury though, so I guess I’m just easily spoiled here. I guess this is the line between pure performance cars and grand tourers.
